Rooibos Seeds Head To Space Station

The South African Rooibos Council has launched the Rooibos in Space project, which will send Rooibos seeds to the International Space Station in October to study how space affects plant growth.
The initiative, supported by the South African National Space Agency and MaxIQ Space, will involve learners from seven Cederberg schools in the Western Cape comparing the space-travelled seeds with those grown on Earth.
The council’s Dawie de Villiers says the project aims to advance research into sustainable agriculture.

George Hunter Wins National Bartender Title

Johannesburg bartender and cocktail bar owner George Hunter has won the World Class South Africa Bartender of the Year title.
Hunter earned the national award after competing in the final held in Rosebank yesterday.
He will represent South Africa at the World Class global finals in Scotland in October, competing against bartenders from 50-countries.
The competition will decide the 2026 Global Bartender of the Year.
