Kasi Angels Foundation donates school shoes to Dunoon learners
Story 2
Gerald Nomalala, founder of the Kasi Angels Foundation, has donated 50 pairs of school shoes, uniforms, blankets, and other essentials to learners at Dunoon Primary School.
Nomalala is walking from Cape Town to Limpopo to raise awareness and advocate for free school shoes for all learners, with Dunoon marking the start of his 12 to 14-week journey across six provinces.
The school says learners were overjoyed with the donations, which come after a recent fire left many families without basic necessities.
Through his #AngelsDignityWalk, Nomalala hopes to highlight the importance of dignity and access to education, and he encourages support through contributions of shoes, uniforms, and other essentials.

David Kramer honoured with Cape Town’s Freedom of the City
Story 3
Cape Town’s highest civic honour has been awarded to musician and playwright David Kramer.
Kramer received the Freedom of the City at a ceremony at the Cape Town City Hall on Tuesday night.
Known for documenting the lives and humour of ordinary Capetonians, Kramer used his acceptance speech to mix humour with reflection, jokingly asking the mayor for modern-day “freedoms” such as free parking and grazing rights on Green Point Common.
He also called for new public symbols that better reflect the city’s spirit, suggesting a statue of a man beating a ghoema drum.
Kramer said the honour was especially meaningful as it was awarded alongside his late collaborator, Taliep Petersen.
