Acts of Love marks 16th anniversary

Midrand-based non-profit Acts of Love has marked its 16th anniversary this year by expanding food and household support to vulnerable community members.
The organisation served 8 700 meals, distributed 2 000 winter packs, and provided more than 2 000 grocery vouchers and food hampers to households facing food insecurity.
Acts of Love also supplied 2 000 sanitary pads to high school girls to support school attendance and delivered 3 000 hygiene packs across local communities.
Building on these programmes, the organisation plans to expand feeding initiatives, introduce skills-development projects, and strengthen partnerships with churches, schools and businesses in 2026.

South African authors Louis Jansen van Vuuren and Isabella Niehaus have won World’s Best Vegan Book at the 2025 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards with There’s a Vegan on My Verandah, marking the book’s second global win.
The awards, recognise excellence in food and wine publishing worldwide, with winners selected for content, design and cultural contribution.
The pair first won the title in 2023, followed by a 2024 win for their second book, Earthling Food, before reclaiming the top vegan category in 2025.
Van Vuuren told The Good Things Guy that Edouard Cointreau of the World Gourmand Awards praised his work, saying their book brings a refreshingly different perspective that's thoughtful, elegant, and deeply human.

The FIFA President Gianni Infantino says the 2026 world cup will be ground breaking in terms of its financial impact.
This is as the FIFA council has approved a landmark financial package for next year's World Cup, confirming a record 727 million dollars in prize money for the expanded 48-team tournament.
The council also confirmed new festival style under 15 youth tournaments, starting with a boy's event in 2026 and a girls competition in 2027.
