The South African Reserve Bank is calling on aspirant economists who will be entering their first year of undergraduate studies in the 2027 academic year to apply for its external bursaries programme.
The programme offers financial support to qualifying students from disadvantaged backgrounds as part of addressing the shortage of skills in South Africa.
The External Bursary Scheme and several external scholarships and bursaries are made available annually to qualifying prospective undergraduates, in support of the Reserve Bank's corporate social initiatives.

The closing date for the submission of applications is on Wednesday the 30th of September 2026.

The City of Tshwane says more than 1 500 young people have benefited from the Ithuba Youth Economic Development Programme since its launch in February.
