TUT graduate Mandla Magwaza named Top 200 Young South African

Tshwane University of Technology graduate Mandla Magwaza has been named among the Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans for 2025.
The 32-year-old has been recognised for his leadership and innovation in tourism, having also received the Africa Tourism Award and the World Tourism Markets Africa Responsible Business Award this year.
Magwaza serves on the G20-B20 Digital Transformation Task Force and leads several initiatives promoting sustainability, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation.
Born in Katlehong, Gauteng, he credits TUT for providing the foundation, knowledge, and confidence to shape a career that impacts local communities and contributes to global discussions on tourism and innovation.

Preparations ramp up for G20 Social Summit in South Africa
Story 2
Preparations are ramping up for South Africa to host the G20 Social Summit from 18 to 20 November, giving civil society a platform to influence global policy.
C20 South Africa is meeting with co-convenor Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka and finalising policy recommendations developed through 14 working groups.
The summit will address issues including poverty eradication, food security, climate sustainability and inclusive growth.
Over 2 400 organisations from around the world are contributing to the process, highlighting South Africa’s growing role on the international stage.
The event forms part of South Africa’s G20 Presidency and aims to strengthen dialogue between governments and civil society.

Vienna to host Eurovision 2026
Story 3
Vienna has been chosen to host the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2026 after Austrian singer JJ claimed victory in this year’s competition with his hit Wasted Love.
The Austrian capital edged out Innsbruck and will stage the 70th edition of the contest at the Wiener Stadthalle, with semi-finals on May 12 and 14 and the grand final on May 16.
This will be the third time Vienna hosts Eurovision, having previously staged it in 1967 and 2015.
With its slogan “Europe, shall we dance?”, the city is preparing to welcome fans from across the continent to one of the world’s biggest televised music events.
