The dance-theatre production "Father & I," has returned to The Market Theatre in Johannesburg exploring father-child relationships through dance, music and personal stories.

Now in its second season, the piece previously played at the Market Theatre in November 2024 before being nominated for a Naledi Award.

The production will run from the 21st to the 31st of August.

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane has provided an update on the online 2026 school admissions applications.

The 2026 online admissions applications for grade 1 and 8 placements opened on the 24th of July and will close on the 29th of August at midnight.

The department stressed that all parents with children going to the first and eighth grade in 2026 must apply online in order to be admitted to a Gauteng public school.

The 16-year-old, originally from Phoenix in Durban and now a Grade 12 learner in Auckland, delivered a powerful speech, that captured the attention of both judges and audiences.

Drawing from her own experiences as a new migrant in Auckland, Pillay spoke movingly about race, belonging and the unifying strength of diversity.

The awards are dedicated to encouraging young people to reflect on issues of race relations and multiculturalism, providing them with the opportunity to influence broader conversations on unity and social cohesion.
Jordyn’s presentation stood out from 150 student entries in New Zealand.
