South Africans join global 1 Million Tables Earth Month campaign

South Africans are joining the global “1 Million Tables” campaign during Earth Month by hosting and sharing plant-based meals.
The initiative has registered 136 tables across 74 towns and cities in South Africa, with 679 participants gathering in homes and restaurants.
Participants reduce environmental impact by choosing plant-based meals, cutting greenhouse gas emissions, water use and land pressure linked to food production.
Globally, the campaign spans 170 countries, with more than 2,300 tables and over 19,000 participants recorded so far.

Ukrainian artists perform at Eldorado Park cultural exchange

Community members, including survivors of gender-based violence and recovering drug users, also shared their experiences during the event.

Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille has opened new visitor facilities at the Lighthouse precinct in Agulhas National Park in the Western Cape.
The upgrade, funded by the Department of Tourism and SANParks, is aimed at improving the visitor experience and strengthening the site as a tourism destination.
Officials say the development is part of a national Tourism Growth Partnership Plan to expand and improve tourism offerings across South Africa:
