Reiger Park Learners Showcase AI-Powered Recycling Bin
Story 1
Four learners from Oosrand Commerce and Entrepreneurship School of Specialisation in Reiger Park have taken their business idea, Econova, to the national Junior Achievement South Africa Company of the Year Competition in Johannesburg.
Their Smart Bin uses artificial intelligence to identify different types of recyclable waste and reward people for disposing of it correctly. The team earned its place among 20 learner businesses nationwide after progressing through the provincial competition.
Although Econova did not place among the national winners, the learners gained practical experience in entrepreneurship, technology and presenting their ideas to judges.
