Texas Barber Returns More Than R2 Million Found At ATM
Teaser / Tailpiece story
A barber in Lewisville, Texas, has been praised for his honesty after handing over 128,514 US dollars, worth more than R2 million, found in a bag on top of a bank’s ATM.
He contacted police and tried to identify the owner before handing the money to an officer. Investigators traced the cash and 19 cheques to Bank of America, after a security technician accidentally left the bag behind while servicing the ATM.
Police confirmed that not a single dollar was missing, and the bank has recovered the money and cheques. Officers plan to honour the barber at a private ceremony.
(This is good news because the barber’s honesty ensured millions of rand were returned to their rightful owner, showing the value of doing the right thing.)
