UJ seminar promotes sustainable and healthy eating
Story 1
The University of Johannesburg hosted its second UJ–Lucky Star Nutrition Education Seminar, bringing together students, academics and food experts to promote sustainable and healthy eating.
British farmer and storyteller Henry Wood urged a return to organic food and warned that ultra-processed diets fuel both physical and mental health problems.
He encouraged the use of natural fats such as olive oil and butter instead of industrial seed oils.
Sought After Seedlings’ Linda Galvad also inspired students to grow their own organic food, saying healthy eating starts at home.
The event, organised under UJ’s Healthy Campus Programme, drew over 200 students and featured recipe booklets, local food exhibits, and research presentations on student nutrition.
