Weekend travel advisory for Gauteng residents

As South Africa hosts global leaders for the G20 Summit this weekend, Gauteng residents and commuters are remined to plan their travel ahead of time, with significant traffic disruptions and road closures expected.
Operations will target high-security routes, including major national highways and central urban arteries, including the N1, N3 the N12 and N14, as well as Sandton's 5th Street; Maude Street; Daisy Street; Rivonia Road; Grayston Drive and Kathrine Street.
Authorities have assured the public that clear signage and traffic officers will be deployed to guide road users, with real-time updates provided to minimize disruptions.
Road closures will be in effect until Sunday and a full list of affected roads can be found on the City of Joburg and JMPD's X account.

As South Africa joined the global community in marking Cervical Cancer Elimination Day on Monday, the Health Department has expressed confidence in the nation’s progress in combating cervical cancer.
Through expanded screening and testing initiatives, the country is making strides toward preventing cervical cancer as a public health challenge.
The national health department says the country has vaccinated 6-million girls through its school-based HPV programme since 2014 and extending it to private and independent schools, following WHO's single-dose guidelines.
Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi says the next phase of the HPV vaccination programme will focus on improving screening, treatment, and community engagement.
