Through expanded screening and testing initiatives, the country is making strides toward preventing cervical cancer as a public health challenge.
The national health department says the country has vaccinated 6-million girls through its school-based HPV programme since 2014 and extending it to private and independent schools, following WHO's single-dose guidelines.
Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi says the next phase of the HPV vaccination programme will focus on improving screening, treatment, and community engagement to address vaccine hesitancy.
