A Sandton based trainer has completed a 100 kilometre charity run at Alberton Rugby Club to help Easterns Touch Rugby players who cannot afford to attend tours.
Lance Stevens ran 20 laps of a 5 kilometre loop over several hours to raise support for the young athletes, saying the challenge was driven by his own experience of needing help early in his sporting journey.
He says the effort was physically exhausting, but motivated by the goal of giving others the same opportunities he once received.
Funds raised will help players take part in upcoming touch rugby tours and development opportunities.

Milnerton Beach Cleanup Hits Major Milestones After Flood Litter Surge

Cape Town environmental group has removed more than one tonne of waste from Milnerton Beach during its 520th cleanup, following heavy flooding that washed large amounts of litter onto the shoreline.
Save a Fishie volunteers collected items including plastic bottles, tyres, clothing, nappies and even a mattress during the cleanup at Lagoon Beach, with around 20 volunteers taking part.
The organisation says the effort pushed its total waste removed from local beaches to 57 tonnes since it began, marking a major milestone in its ongoing coastal protection work.
Volunteers say the latest cleanup shows the impact of consistent community action in keeping oceans and beaches clean despite challenging conditions.

SAMRO launches two-week support drive for music cre

SAMRO says the aim is to make it easier for creators to manage their records correctly and improve access to royalties.

Thirty year old Mali Hightower fitted the pink camper with a small engine taken from a power washer and now uses it for short errands around his neighbourhood.
