SAMRO Launches Two Week Royalties Support Drive for Music Creators

The Southern African Music Rights Organisation will host a two week member support initiative aimed at helping music creators sort out royalty and rights related issues.
The programme, called The State of Your Music Service Weeks, will run from 25 May to 5 June at SAMRO’s offices in Braamfontein, where members can access walk in consultations and support sessions.
It will focus on issues such as incomplete song registrations, outdated banking details and errors in royalty documentation, while also offering guidance on copyright and music rights processes.
SAMRO says the aim is to make it easier for creators to manage their records correctly and improve access to royalties.

Chatsworth Fun Run to Celebrate Youth Day with Community Focus

The Fieldshill Water Athletic Club will host its annual 5 kilometre Fun Run and Walk in Chatsworth on Youth Day, bringing together families, runners and local residents for a morning of fitness and community spirit.
The event will take place on 16 June 2026 at the Kharwastan Secondary School grounds under the theme Take It In Our Stride, with organisers encouraging participation from all fitness levels.
Funds raised from the event will support local organisations including Chatsworth Hospice and the Rotary High Noon Club, as well as grassroots athletics development in the area.
Organisers say the aim is to promote healthy lifestyles while creating positive spaces for young people and strengthening community ties.

TUT Supports Children Living with Disabilities in Mabopane

The Tshwane University of Technology has donated essentials and gifts to children living with disabilities at the Bongwanake Foundation in Mabopane.
The outreach, led by several TUT departments, forms part of the university’s community engagement work and follows commitments made during Mandela Day 2025.
TUT also says it will support the foundation with therapy services and computers to improve learning and care for the children.
The Bongwanake Foundation was founded by a TUT alumna and provides support services for children living with disabilities.

A man in Riviera Beach in the United States has returned 30 thousand dollars (about 570 thousand rand) he found inside a convenience store bathroom.
Luis Salazar discovered a fanny pack at a Wawa store and, after realising it contained large amounts of cash, immediately tried to find the owner and alerted staff and police.
Security footage later helped identify him, and the money was returned at a local police station in an emotional handover between Salazar and the owner.
