Lilian Ngoyi Street Rehab Progresses

The Johannesburg Roads Agency confirmed that the first phase of Lilian Ngoyi Street’s rehabilitation is progressing well and should be completed by the end of August.
City Speaker Nobuhle Mthembu led an oversight visit on May 19 to assess the project, which began after a gas explosion in July 2023.
The second phase will start in September, covering the remaining 1.8km.
The project includes both surface and complex underground upgrades to improve safety and infrastructure in Johannesburg’s inner city.
