Rosebank Union Church brightened Mandela Day by hanging more than 100 handmade scarves and beanies along its fence for anyone in need to take.
Volunteers with the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day campaign also handed out bread and biscuits to recyclers, security guards, homeless people and other community members.
The annual initiative encouraged acts of kindness while helping people stay warm during the winter season.

A young man from Limpopo has been praised after helping an elderly woman safely navigate Johannesburg's busy city centre when he noticed she was struggling with a heavy bag.
Jonathan Malatji carried her luggage, kept her company and made sure she reached the correct taxi rank after realising she was heading to the wrong one.
Jonathan says he simply wanted to help, describing himself as a grandson for the day after the encounter left them both smiling.

A special YMCA summer camp in New York is giving children with kidney disease the chance to enjoy swimming, hiking, campfires and other outdoor adventures in a safe and supportive environment.
The programme, run at Frost Valley YMCA, provides 24 hour medical care from doctors, nurses and specialists, allowing children to take part in camp activities while receiving the treatment they need.
Frost Valley YMCA CEO Reel Peerbooms says the camp is about more than just fun, with children leaving not only with happy memories but also valuable life skills.
