The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and Business and Arts South Africa have launched the fourth Debut Fund Programme to support emerging creative entrepreneurs.
The programme will support 50 young creatives aged 18 to 35 from rural and township communities.
Over 11-months, participants will receive support to develop their ideas and prepare them for the market.
The selected participants will take part in the programme from July 2026 to April 2027, developing their creative businesses through training and mentorship.

Poetry Anthology Launch Supports Youth Literacy

Book World South Africa and Project R2Million will launch the Mandela in Young Voices poetry anthology on 31 July at the Rustenburg Civic Centre.
The book features poems written by 67 Grade 7 learners who took part in writing workshops and slam competitions.
Funds raised from the launch will support book donations, literacy mentorship and education programmes for young writers.
The initiative aims to expand literacy opportunities in communities across the North West.

FoodForward SA Packs Food, Helps Communities

FoodForward SA held its annual food-packing event, with Coronation employees volunteering to help strengthen food security in South Africa.
The organisation redistributes surplus food through more than 2,500 beneficiary organisations, reaching nearly one million vulnerable people every day.
Last year's campaign packed 200 tonnes of food, providing more than 880,000 meals to communities across the country.
Coronation has supported FoodForward SA since 2021 as part of its broader community investment programme.

Junior Springboks Return As World Champions

The Junior Springboks have returned to South Africa after winning the U20 Rugby World Championship.
The team arrived at OR Tambo International Airport yesterday following their victory over France in the final in Georgia.
The win saw the Junior Boks defend the title they won last year and extend their tournament winning streak to 11 matches.
Coach Kevin Foote praised the players for staying focused and handling pressure throughout the competition:
