Over 1000 Gauteng Patients Receive Surgeries

More than 1,000 patients in Gauteng are set to receive surgeries and clinical procedures through this year’s Mandela Month Surgical Marathon.
A total of 19 public hospitals will carry out 1,078 procedures by the end of July.
The initiative is helping reduce waiting lists and improve access to healthcare across the province.
The number of procedures has increased from last year’s 806 surgeries, giving more patients access to life-changing care.

Eleven-year-old Jason Porter has been crowned the Tshwane West district champion in the Gauteng Department of Education’s Natural Sciences and Technology Olympiad.
The Pretoria West learner will now compete against Gauteng’s top young science learners at the provincial competition.
The Olympiad tests learners’ science and technology skills while identifying talent and encouraging careers in STEM fields.

Amazon is investing R24 million to restore parts of the Klip River corridor in Soweto while creating jobs and supporting local communities.
The project will rehabilitate 130 hectares of river landscape, plant 20 000 trees and train more than 1 000 women in businesses linked to environmental restoration.
