A state-of-the-art Centre for Advanced Training and Innovative Research has opened in Pretoria, aiming to equip young South African scientists with world-class skills.
The facility will train up to 160 students a year in advanced molecular techniques and lab management, bridging the gap between theory and practice.
Deputy Minister Nomalungelo Gina says the centre is a key step toward a knowledge-based economy and supports government’s 10-year innovation plan.
Backed by the SA Medical Research Council and global firm Thermo Fisher Scientific, the centre marks a major investment in the country’s scientific future.
