PraysGod Tsotetsi, a 32-year-old shoemaker from Duduza, is helping children walk to school with pride through his Dr Shoes School Tour Project.
In just six months, he’s repaired and donated over 450 pairs of school shoes to learners across eight schools.
The project was born when he tried to fix a badly damaged pair for a local boy and realised many children faced the same struggle.
Drawing on skills inherited from his father, Tsotetsi is committed to addressing this need and improving the well-being of learners in his community.

The Gauteng Education Department is calling on parents to get ready ahead of the 2026 school year.
Online applications for grade 1 and grade 8 open this Thursday and close on the 29th of August.
Education MEC Matome Chiloane says the first step is to register on the department’s website and upload the necessary documents.
These include ID documents for both parent and learner, and permits for foreign nationals.
Parents can submit documents online or hand them in at schools.
Applications without documents after seven days will be marked as incomplete.
