Story 1
The Alexandra Education Committee’s bursary programme has helped 48 learners from the township, north of Johannesburg , and nearby communities achieve a 100% matric pass rate, 100% Bachelor’s pass rate, and 104 distinctions in the Class of 2025.
Bursary recipients attended extra tuition, mentorship sessions, and Saturday lessons in maths, English, and science, and received support with transport, uniforms, and books.
Their results earned them places at universities including the University of Cape Town, University of Pretoria, and Wits.
Learner, Motheo Matjie, credits AEC's Saturday AP Maths classes for helping him improve his marks, saying he didn't have a maths teacher at school but AEC filled the gap.
