Gauteng based Society for Animals in Distress CEO Meg Harvey climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for animals in impoverished communities.
She turned her 40th birthday into a fundraising challenge, asking family and friends to donate instead of buying her gifts.
Her campaign aims to raise R500 000, with close to R200 000 already raised.
The money will help fund a mobile clinic so animals in communities with limited access to veterinary care can receive treatment.

PPS Foundation to Provide Up to 130,000 Meals to Students

The PPS Foundation, the Professional Provident Society Foundation, is on track to provide between 120,000 and 130,000 meals to students this year as it works to address food insecurity.
The Group Executive for Mutuality, Ayanda Seboni, says hunger can make it harder for students to succeed academically, particularly those already facing financial challenges.
The foundation is also supporting young people beyond university through career guidance, workplace readiness training and programmes that expose learners to different career opportunities.

CapeNature has honoured firefighters and field rangers who showed exceptional courage during a challenging 2025/26 fire season.
They responded to 107 wildfire incidents across the province, working in extreme heat and difficult terrain to protect communities, infrastructure and biodiversity.
Firefighters worked alongside municipalities, Working on Fire and other organisations, with their teamwork helping to keep people and valuable natural areas safe.
The appreciation event recognised their dedication and the sacrifices they made while serving communities across the Western Cape.
