TUT named national leader in workplace wellness

The Tshwane University of Technology has been recognised as a leader in workplace wellness.
The University received Founder Associate Status from the Work Wellness Association of South Africa.
The status, granted at no cost during WWASA’s launch phase, acknowledges institutions committed to employee care.
Benefits include strategic support, a wellness roadmap, and opportunities to shape national benchmarks.
TUT’s Health and Wellness Manager, Dr Priscilla Lekgetho, says the recognition will strengthen wellness systems, ease workload pressures, and make the University an even more caring employer.

South Africa has unveiled its first AI teaching robot, IRIS, designed to boost learning across all subjects from Grade R to tertiary level.
Deputy Minister Nomalungelo Gina says the robot will help learners reach their full potential and make education more interactive.
Developed by Thandoh Gumede of BSG Technologies, IRIS can speak 11 official languages and responds to voice prompts.
It is designed to support teachers, particularly in maths, science, and technology, rather than replace them.
The government encourages women and youth to embrace innovation and AI, helping shape the country’s future.
