Joburg Water says it is conducting maintenance work on a damaged pipeline that started leaking last week.

The damage has impacted the Illovo reservoir and tower which supplies parts of Sandown, Morningside, Benmore and surrounding areas.

The University of the Western Cape has announced the successful hosting of the regional round of the World Robot Olympiad, which saw participation from learners as young as nine-years-old.

The competition provides a gateway for primary school learners to build and advance their skills in coding and robotics, offering them a platform to engage with technology in a structured and competitive environment.

World Robot Olympiad Western Cape Chairperson, Cedric Esterhuizen, explained that the regional round featured the Explorer Lite and Explorer Prime divisions, both tailored for participants under the age of 15.

Minister Ramokgopa unveils new Science Labs in Atteridgeville

Electricity and Energy Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has officially unveiled newly equipped science labs at four schools in Atteridgeville, outside Pretoria.

The initiative forms part of a strategic public–private partnership, with contributions from the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation and Chinese technology giant Huawei, who provided advanced equipment and resources to support teaching and learning.

Minister Ramokgopa emphasised that the project aims to transform the quality of science education in township schools by creating environments that foster problem-solving, critical thinking and innovation.
