City of Joburg wins engineering awards for infrastructure projects

The City of Johannesburg has received engineering awards for three infrastructure projects recognised by the Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa.
The awarded projects include the Eastern Stormwater Channel upgrade in Orange Grove, the Vlakfontein Transport Facility---- and the Naledi Clinic, all delivered by the Johannesburg Development Agency.
The projects were recognised for flood management, community development and healthcare infrastructure improvements.
The City says the awards reflect work completed under its infrastructure programme to improve service delivery across Johannesburg.

South Africans are invited to take part in a nationwide fundraising campaign supporting children with serious illnesses.
Reach For A Dream will launch its annual Slipper Day campaign on 29 May 2026 to raise R15 million for children with life-threatening conditions.
Supporters can participate by buying a Slipper Day sticker and wearing slippers on the day to show support and raise awareness.
Over the years, the organisation has fulfilled thousands of dreams for children with serious illnesses, with funds used for experiences such as meeting role models and travelling.

Founder Nomsa Mazwai says the idea for Sober Fest is to encourage people to come out, have fun and build genuine connections through art and music curated for the day.
