Thousands of volunteers build beds for children in massive US charity drive

More than 6,500 volunteers have come together in Charlotte, North Carolina, to build over 10,000 beds in just 24 hours for children who do not have one of their own.
The large scale initiative, led by the charity Sleep in Heavenly Peace, brought together corporate partners and community groups inside the Charlotte Convention Centre for a coordinated build effort.
Across the day, volunteers cut, sanded and assembled thousands of beds that will be distributed to children in need across multiple states in the United States.
Organisers say the project is aimed at ensuring more children have access to a safe and comfortable place to sleep.
