Menlyn Park Shopping Centre has won 14 awards at the 2026 South African Council of Shopping Centres Footprint Marketing Awards. This includes one Gold, nine Silver and four Bronze awards. The awards recognised campaigns that brought brands, businesses and shoppers together through creative experiences and community-focused activities.
The centre’s Gold Award was presented in the Strategic Marketing category for its I DO Bridal Fair, which also received Silver awards for tactical activation and social media. Other recognised campaigns included Destination Winter, Matric Expo, Menlyn Som van Twee Premiere and Moms of Menlyn.

Residents are invited to join an 8km Heritage Run on September 24 at Christoffel Park in Ekurhuleni, bringing families and the community together for fitness, culture and local business. The event starts at **7am, followed by heritage food, craft stalls and other community activities.The run will also honour the memory of **Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo and other women who have lost their lives in and around Ekurhuleni, including those who have not yet been identified. Organisers say the tribute is intended to remember the women and show support for their families and communities.

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic flame has arrived in Senegal ahead of a relay through all 14 regions. The relay runs from 14 September to 30 October, leading up to the Games from 31 October to 13 November, where about 2 700 young athletes are expected to compete.
The torch relay, themed “Pass the Energy”, will include music concerts and cultural performances along the route, bringing communities together ahead of the Games.
