Phoenix Alexandra Makes Learning Fun Beyond The Classroom
Story 1
Phoenix Alexandra, a non-profit organisation in Alexandra that supports children's education, took learners to Linbro Park for a day of reading, spelling, poetry, dancing and horse-riding.
Founder Nkateko Mabasa said children learn better when lessons include fun and new experiences. Inspired by how educational camps helped her as a child, she wanted to give learners the same opportunity to explore and understand concepts outside the classroom.
The children also helped one another with reading and spelling, creating a supportive environment where they could learn without fear of making mistakes.
