Ramokgopa unveils massive R2.2 trillion electricity plan

Electricity Minister, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, has unveiled an Integrated Resource Plan to tackle the country's electricity crisis and boost economy.
With a projected investment of R2.2 trillion, which is about 30% of the nation's GDP, the plan seeks to transform the energy sector and drive development.
Ramokgopa says the Integrated Resource Plan aims to address electricity supply issues, promote economic growth, and create jobs, targeting a three-percent gross domestic product growth by 2030:

Joburg libraries host school reading competitions

The City of Johannesburg's Library and Information Services is gearing up for its annual school reading competitions, taking place tomorrow and on Wednesday, at Emmarentia Dam.
The event features two popular contests: the Story Skirmish for Grades 4-5 and the Battle of the Books for Grades 6-7.
Teams from top schools, including Elsie Ngidi Primary, Malvern Primary, Mikateka Primary, and others, will compete to showcase their knowledge and speed in reading.
The competitions aim to build confidence, comprehension, and a lifelong love for reading among young participants.

SA wins Men's and Women's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations

The Africa Cup of Nations 2025 concluded on Saturday, with South Africa's men and women winning the titles to claim the gold medal and qualify for the FIH Hockey World Cup Belgium and Netherlands 2026.
In the women's competition all five teams played each other in the first round robin stage.
South Africa topped the pool with three wins and a draw against Kenya earning them ten points.
Ghana finished second with three wins and a solo loss coming against table toppers South Africa.
Kenya finished third with seven points, Nigeria finished fourth with three.
In the men’s competition all six teams played each other in the first round robin stage---with South Africa toping the pool with four wins and a draw.
