vTara The H Moross Psychiatric Hospital in Sandton marked Mental Health Wellness Day on 17 October with activities promoting positive mental health among staff.
The event encouraged employees to prioritise their psychological well-being and challenged the stigma around discussing mental health in the workplace.
Staff took part in a variety of interactive activities, including a fun walk, aerobics sessions, and sports exercises.
Health services such as TB and breast cancer screenings, as well as HIV and AIDS counselling and testing, were also available on-site.
The hospital worked with partners and exhibitors to create an engaging and educational environment, reflecting its commitment to a supportive and healthy workplace culture.

South African entrepreneur Zunaid Moti has launched the MotiMoves Pay It Forward initiative, pledging R1 million to support 100 students’ tertiary studies in 2026.
Each student will receive R10,000 to help cover tuition or registration fees, easing the financial burden on families.
The initiative is open to South African residents aged 18 and older accepted into accredited tertiary institutions.
Applicants must submit a 90-second video outlining their academic goals, along with supporting documents such as ID, proof of residence, matric results, and acceptance letters.
Entries opened on 20 October, with winners to be announced on 16 January 2026.

A new app called Wildling is helping people explore the UK’s wild spaces, from city parks to remote coastlines.
The free app, created by entrepreneur Ant Rawlins, maps over 1,500 locations and aims to make nature more accessible while promoting mental well-being.
Supported by conservation groups such as the RSPB, Marine Conservation Society, and Forestry England, Wildling also features practical guides and activities for families and children.
Backers including Dragon’s Den investor Deborah Meaden, financier Ben Goldsmith, and Eden Project founder Tim Smit hope the app encourages people to connect with their local environment and support conservation efforts.
