Global Citizen NOW summit takes place in Sandton on 21 Nov.

Johannesburg will host the Global Citizen NOW summit tomorrow at the Sandton Convention Centre, a day before the G20 Summit which is scheduled for 22–23 November.
The event will gather world leaders, investors and philanthropists.
Global Citizen said the campaign seeks commitments for clean energy access for 10 million households, with 4.6 million already pledged.
Discussions will focus on health security, climate resilience and G20 priorities of solidarity, equality and sustainability, aiming to end extreme poverty and protect the planet.

Gauteng expects Gautrain expansion to generate substantial economic returns

The Gauteng local government expects the expansion of the Gautrain system to areas including Soweto, Fourways, Roodepoort and Mamelodi, to generate substantial economic returns creating more than 125,000 jobs during construction.
The Gautrain expansion project plans to add up to 300 kilometers of rail lines, connecting Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy says the OR Tambo International Airport, Waterkloof Air Force Base and Lanseria Airport will serve as entry points for the heads of state attending the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg this weekend.
The minister provided an update yesterday on South Africa’s aviation infrastructure and the readiness of major airports ahead of the summit.
Creecy says the country’s ports of entry have met all security and safety requirements needed to manage the influx of international delegates:

The initiative aims to extend the existing 80-kilometer system, integrating new routes to enhance connectivity and support sustainable development.
The project will be completed in stages, with the first phase focusing on linking Sandton and Soweto.
