City Power has taken a step to help Johannesburg become more energy independent.
The City is bringing the John Ware Open Cycle Gas Turbine Power Station back. This will be one of three sites that will provide 150 megawatts of power to the city’s electricity grid.
The move is part of City Power’s 10-point plan to make Johannesburg less dependent on Eskom and to reduce the impact of load shedding.City Power says the station shows its strong promise to keep the city’s lights on and ensure a steady power supply.

3,076 Smurfs Break World Record

A small town in western France has set a world record for the greatest number of people dressed up as smurfs gathered in the same location. According to reports over 3,000 smurfs were counted. In 2019, 2,762 smurfs gathered in a small town in Germany breaking the record. This past weekend 3,076 blue painted people wearing white hats and singing smurfy songs broke the world record.
