Nearly 6,000 Post Office Workers to Benefit from UIF Support

The South African Post Office will receive over R382 million from the Unemployment Insurance Fund to help save almost 6,000 jobs.
This support comes through the Temporary Employer-Employee Relief Scheme and will be paid over six months.
A total of 5,956 workers will benefit from the funding.
Minister of Employment and Labour, Nomakhosazana Meth, said the agreement is an important step to protect workers and rebuild trust in public services.
She also confirmed that the money will be managed carefully, with strong rules in place to make sure it is used correctly.

The University of the Free State’s Faculty of Health Sciences has opened a new Research Room to help improve the health of mothers and babies.
The room was launched in Bloemfontein in partnership with Universitas Academic Hospital. It includes special equipment like the PEA POD and DXA machine to measure body fat and growth in newborn babies.
Professor Corinna Walsh says the PEA POD uses air to check important health details in infants.
The university says the equipment will help doctors do quick checks and build a strong health database for babies.
