The Tshwane Metro Police Department has joined forces with the Tiyani Mabunda Foundation to host a sports against crime tournament aimed at empowering young people.

Organisers say the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to engage the youth through constructive recreational activities that keep them away from negative influences, creating opportunities for personal development and a prosperous future for the youth of Tshwane.

The Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department's Chief of Police Commissioner Yolande Faro highlighted the importance of providing opportunities for the youth to experience and participate in sports.

South Africa strengthens tourism ties with Mexico

The Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille says the introduction of the electronic travel authorization system will make it easier for Mexican travellers to visit South Africa.
The Minister revealed that Mexico has been identified as one of South Africa’s priority growth markets, during engagements at the opening week of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the country.

De Lille met with Mexico's tourism leadership and several tour operators to promote the benefits of the ETA system.

The Minister says the system is expected to further accelerate tourism growth by making travel to South Africa faster, simpler and more accessible for travelers.

Mexico is among the largest outbound travel markets in Latin America, presenting significant opportunities to increase visitor numbers, strengthen tourism ties and unlock greater economic benefits for both countries.

1 Million School Shoes campaign brings hope to learners in Bloemfontein

The 1 Million School Shoes Campaign, in partnership with the Free State Department of Education, is bringing hope to learners from disadvantaged backgrounds by handing over 1 300 brand-new pairs of school shoes in Meloding, Virginia, and surrounding areas of Matjhabeng.

The campaign which was established in 2015 continues to make a meaningful impact by ensuring learners have the basic necessities needed to pursue their education.

The initiative aims to restore dignity and support children who often walk long distances to school barefoot.

NASA names four astronauts for Artemis III mission

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has announced the four-person crew for Artemis Three.
The two-week mission aims to test out various technologies that are considered vital to putting astronauts back on the surface of the moon for the first time in more than 50 years.

The mission will focus on collecting research and practising in-space docking procedures in preparation for a future moon landing, which NASA hopes will take place as soon as 2028.
