Archaeologists in London have uncovered one of the largest collections of painted Roman wall plaster ever found in the city.
The fragments, discovered on a construction site in Southwark, date back to around AD 43 to 150 and once decorated a luxurious Roman building.
Experts from the Museum of London Archaeology spent months piecing together the delicate designs, revealing vivid images of birds, fruit, flowers and musical instruments.
Some fragments even show a painter’s signature and ancient Greek graffiti, offering rare insight into Roman life.
It’s the latest in a series of finds from the site, which has also revealed mosaics and a rare Roman mausoleum.
