University of Johannesburg’s Community Engagement Unit marked Mandela Day by mobilizing hundreds of volunteers across faculties for acts of service under the theme: “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity.
Activities included hospital clean-ups, road marking, solar panel cleaning, and educational outreach. Staff and students also supported donation drives and prepared for the Mandela Day Walk & Run yesterday.
UJ urged continued action through its 200+ community projects, emphasizing Mandela’s values of dignity, ubuntu, and social justice.
