Dis-Chem Ride for Sight returns to Boksburg for 37th edition

The 37th Dis-Chem Ride for Sight will take place at Boksburg City Stadium on February 15, offering cyclists a range of routes from 10km to 116km.
The event is organised and led by visually impaired people, including race director Linsay Engelbrecht, and includes categories for tandem, handcycle, and other adaptive bikes.
Proceeds go to Retina SA, supporting people with retinal conditions and funding research into treatments.
The 116km Super Classic also serves as a seeding event for Ride Joburg 2026 and the 2027 Cape Town Cycle Tour.
Entries are open to competitive and recreational cyclists, with para-cycling categories reinforcing the race’s inclusive approach.

Correctional learners shine with 94 percent NSC pass rate

Learners in South African correctional service facilities have excelled in the 2025 National Senior Certificate exams, achieving a 94.4 percent pass rate, above the national average of 88 percent.
A total of 180 learners from 18 Correctional Services Schools sat the exams, with 15 schools achieving a 100 percent pass rate and 132 distinctions earned.
KwaZulu-Natal produced the highest number of matriculants, with 50 learners, 45 of whom qualified for Bachelor passes. Meanwhile the Johannesburg Female Correctional Centre School achieved a 100 percent pass rate.
Minister of Correctional Services, Pieter Groenewald says it is important to push for rehabilitation.
