Women's rights activist and philanthropist Dr Vivian Mokome and the Mokome Foundation are helping schoolgirls stay in class with their Back-to-School Pad Drive.
The initiative donates sanitary towels to learners affected by period poverty, making sure girls don’t miss school and can focus on their studies.

Midrand’s Waterfall City has won Best Masterplan Africa 2025–2026 at the International Property Awards, holding onto its continental title for a second consecutive year.
The award recognises big projects over 20,000 square metres, that combine at least 5 uses like homes, shops, offices, and public areas.
Projects are judged by an independent panel of more than 90 experts on architecture, land use, sustainability, energy efficiency and innovation.

The fifth annual Cape Flats Book Festival will take place on 31 January at West End Primary School in Mitchell’s Plain, hosted by literacy non-profit Read to Rise.
Read to Rise promotes youth literacy in under-resourced communities across South Africa.
The festival will feature over 50 sessions for children, young adults, and adults, with more than 90 speakers.
Activities include poetry readings, writing workshops, storytelling, a puppet show, food stalls, and exhibitors.
