Rand Water confirms progress on planned maintenance across Gauteng

Rand Water has successfully completed the first phase of its maintenance with the second phase now underway.
The water supplier has been conducting its proactive infrastructure maintenance on various systems across the Gauteng province since the 13th of December.
The Spokesperson Mmakenosi Maruo, says some residents will experience intermittent to no water supply.
She added that maintenance forms a part of the utility’s goal to accommodate the growing demand.

Jono Kruger completes 1,200km run for youth empowerment

East London-based social upliftment advocate Jono Kruger has completed an extraordinary endurance run from Cape Town to Buffalo City, covering nearly 1200 kilometres over 25 consecutive days in support of youth empowerment.
The journey, titled the Vula Mdantsane Run for Sports Education and Youth Empowerment, took Kruger through towns and cities across the Western and Eastern Cape, using sport as a vehicle for social change.
Kruger is the founder of EduSport’s Coach-in-a-Box programme, which equips unemployed young people with rugby and netball coaching skills before placing them in schools where they mentor learners while earning a stipend.
The runner says he hopes to inspire long-term partnerships, encouraging businesses to “adopt” schools and support the expansion of Coach-in-a-Box programmes nationwide.

The Western Cape MEC for Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism Ivan Meyer has welcomed the opening of the Klein Goederust Wine Cellar in Franschhoek, which is South Africa’s first Black-owned wine cellar.
Owner Paul Siguqa has successfully transformed the farm into a thriving winery and tourism destination.
Meyer says the milestone demonstrates inclusive growth, job creation, and transformation in the wine industry, supported by government funding and the Western Cape’s Growth for Jobs strategy.
