The FIFA council has approved a landmark financial package for the 2026 World Cup, confirming a record 727 million dollars in prize money for the expanded 48-team tournament.

The decision was described by FIFA as part of a broader series of measures aimed at shaping the future of the World Cup and global youth football.

The FIFA President Gianni Infantino says the 2026 world cup will be ground breaking in terms of its financial impact.

The council also confirmed new festival style under 15 youth tournaments, starting with a boy's event in 2026 and a girls competition in 2027.

The FIFA council further announced that the 2028 women's club witld Cup will be staged from January 5th to January 30th.
