Johannesburg Art Gallery hosts Sugar Coats exhibition

The City of Johannesburg, through the Johannesburg Art Gallery hosted the Sugar Coats exhibition by acclaimed Zimbabwean artist Gresham Tapiwa Nyaunde earlier this month.
The artist has over the past 15 years, developed a practice marked by conviction and integrity earning international recognition, including participation in the New Museum Triennial in 2018 and exhibitions at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art.
The MMC for Community Development, Cllr Tebogo Nkokou, says the city is proud to support young artists who use their work to engage critically with society and inspire social change.

The inaugural George Arts, Culture and Sport Festival in the Western Cape has wrapped up on a high note.
Thousands of visitors turned out to celebrate creativity, community and connection.

Jono Kruger completes 1,200km run for youth empowerment

ast London-based social upliftment advocate Jono Kruger has completed an extraordinary endurance run from Cape Town to Buffalo City, covering nearly 1200 kilometres over 25 consecutive days in support of youth empowerment.
The journey, titled the Vula Mdantsane Run for Sports Education and Youth Empowerment, took Kruger through towns and cities across the Western and Eastern Cape, using sport as a vehicle for social change.
Kruger is the founder of EduSport’s Coach-in-a-Box programme, which equips unemployed young people with rugby and netball coaching skills before placing them in schools where they mentor learners while earning a stipend.
Kruger says he hopes to inspire long-term partnerships, encouraging businesses to “adopt” schools and support the expansion of Coach-in-a-Box programmes nationwide.
