Residents and staff from Thembalami Care Centre and the Max Ordman Deaf Association enjoyed a special lunch hosted by the Johannesburg Mini Council at the Edenvale Community Centre.
The event brought residents together with members of the wider community for a programme of singing, dancing and poetry.
Residents joined in the dancing and were treated to boerewors rolls and ice cream before receiving gifts.
The gathering also gave residents an opportunity to socialise, enjoy themselves and connect with people from the community.

Johannesburg woman donates care packs to Park Care residents

A Johannesburg woman named Megan has donated more than 40 care packs to residents at Park Care Centre in Parktown West.
Her latest donation came about a week after she first delivered warm socks, hoodies, goodies for the Sensory Room and other care items.
Park Care provides residential nursing and palliative care to 320 residents, including older people living with chronic illness or frailty.

Dr Thebe Ikalafeng honoured as African Heritage Champion

African brand strategist Dr Thebe Ikalafeng has been honoured as an African Heritage Champion for his contribution to preserving and promoting African heritage and culture.
The award was presented by the Africa World Heritage Fund, the African Union and UNESCO.
Ikalafeng has spent more than three decades advancing African brands, identity and narratives globally.
He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Johannesburg in 2024 for his contribution to branding and marketing.
