Pretoria music lovers can look forward to a vibrant celebration of African sound this weekend as Unisa hosts its second African Music Festival at its Muckleneuk campus.
The two day festival will bring together musicians from across Southern Africa, with performances ranging from the indigenous sounds of the mbira and marimba to traditional drumming, percussion and contemporary Afro fusion.
Legendary guitarist Louis Mhlanga and popular South African band Freshlyground are among the artists set to perform.

Women involved in fitness programmes at Sinakekele Children in Verulam, north of Durban, have received running shoes, sportswear and protective gear through Project Run.
The initiative was started by Craig Wright after he saw children running barefoot at a parkrun.
Project Run collects donated running shoes and sports equipment and distributes them to disadvantaged athletes and community organisations.

Cape Town residents have rallied behind African penguins at SANCCOB by donating enough lavender for the birds to build their nests.
The rehabilitation centre recently appealed to people with lavender growing in their gardens to donate the plant as nesting material for its resident penguins.
The response has been so generous that SANCCOB says the birds now have all the lavender they need, with some already enjoying their cosy new nests.
