Johannesburg Learners Showcase Science Innovations

Johannesburg learners have showcased their science and innovation projects at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists Regional Science Fair at Wits University.
The event brought together 387 learners who presented 289 projects across engineering, environmental studies, biomedical sciences and other fields.
A total of 295 medals were awarded, including 85 gold, 90 silver and 120 bronze.
Among the award recipients was Grade 6 learner Lethukuthula Nhlapho, who developed a solar-powered traffic light to help keep roads safer during power outages.

Fleurhof Women Receive Support and Empowerment

The Serve to Grow Foundation brought women at the Elizabeth Walk Safe Haven in Fleurhof together for a day of support and empowerment.
The event included dancing, an empowerment talk, gifts and a meal, with support from local businesses.
The safe haven supports women recovering from addiction and dealing with trauma through counselling, life skills and spiritual guidance.
The gathering gave the women an opportunity to feel supported and appreciated.

Knysna Primary School Receives 110 Uniforms

A Primary School in Knysna has received 110 pairs of school shoes, 110 shirts and 110 trousers for learners.
The uniforms were handed over on August 14 through an initiative led by the Knysna Section of the Garden Route National Park.
MPM Enviro Enterprise supported the project by sourcing the uniforms, which were provided through SANParks’ Socio-Economic Transformation programme.
The initiative aims to ease the cost of school clothing for families living near the national park.
