Over 12,000 women participated in the Totalsports Women's Race 10km in Johannesburg on Sunday to celebrate National Women's Month and support a good cause.
The event, which included a 5km fun run, aimed to promote female empowerment and sporting achievement while raising funds for breast cancer awareness.
City of Johannesburg's Community Development MMC Tebogo Nkokou who was in attendance says the metro is committed to empowering women and creating opportunities that ensure their wellbeing.

Funded by Waterloo Solar and Bokamoso Solar in partnership with READ Educational Trust, the initiative provides parents with practical tools to promote literacy and academic achievement at home.
Through workshops at local schools, parents learn techniques to help their children develop reading, writing, and communication skills, creating a more connected learning experience.

Tanzania and Burundi Launch $2.15 Billion Rail Link

Tanzania and Burundi are constructing a $2.15 billion railway line that links both countries.
The 240km railway line will reduce cargo trips from 96 hours to 20 hours.
Once complete it is expected to carry up to 3-million tonns of Burundian minerals every year.
Burundi's President described the project as a long-awaited dream for his country, highlighting its role in unlocking mineral wealth and boosting connectivity.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year.
The Egyptian who joined Liverpool in 2017, was the Premier League's top scorer last season, with his 29 goals, along with 18 assists, playing a key role in the club winning the league title, finishing 10 points ahead of runners-up Arsenal.
The 33-year-old had already clinched the Premier League Player of the Season award, the Golden Boot for most goals scored and the Play-maker award for most assists, making him the first player to win all 3-awards in the same season.
