Eskom Launches Renewable Programme

Eskom has launched its first renewable energy program, seeking proposals for solar power from its own sites.
The power utility invites large power users to buy 291 MW of solar power through long-term agreements as part of its plan to increase renewables to 32 GW by 2040.
This comes as Eskom continues to develop a balanced energy mix, comprising coal, nuclear, gas, renewables, and energy storage solutions.

Women's Empowerment Platform, WomenCan, is set to host A Night of Mystery Gala and WomenCan Awards on August 30 at the Mhulu Boutique Hotel in Midrand.
This year's theme, "Unlocking Your Inner Power," aims to inspire women to confidently lead and use their voices.
The organisation's founder Tumi Mthembu says the event provides a space for women to share their stories and forge deep connections.
The evening will feature panel discussions led by industry leaders, including Thato Mosikare, and will be hosted by Bokang Montjane Tshabalala.

The university has risen from 61st globally in 2024 to 52nd this year.
