The Protea Hotel by Marriott Johannesburg Balalaika Sandton has launched a blanket drive to support vulnerable communities ahead of winter.
The initiative forms part of the hotel’s ongoing community outreach programmes.
Previous campaigns have included collecting teddy bears and seasonal donations for nearby organisations.
Blankets collected this year will be distributed to people in Sandton and surrounding areas, including Alexandra.

Kolisi Foundation launches The First Cup Fund

The Kolisi Foundation has launched The First Cup Fund, a national campaign running from the 9th of April to the 9th of May.
The initiative raises funds through the purchase of hot drinks at selected restaurants, with proceeds supporting nutrition, safe spaces, and early learning programmes.
The campaign forms part of the foundation’s sixth anniversary, marking six years of work in food security, education, sport, and gender-based violence prevention across South Africa.
Over this period, the foundation has invested around 60 million rand in food security and supported thousands of children through its programmes.
