JMPD Officers March for Women’s Month

Johannesburg Metro Police officers marched two kilometres from Witkoppen Park to the Indaba Hotel last week as part of a Women’s Month awareness walk.
The JMPD says the walk aimed to recognise women in law enforcement and challenge stereotypes about their roles and qualifications.
Officers marched along Winnie Mandela Drive, named after the late struggle icon who fought for women’s rights and freedom.
The walk also formed part of the JMPD’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

Volkswagen Funds New Maths, Science School

As part of its 75th anniversary celebrations, Volkswagen is funding a new mathematics and science school in Kariega, in the Eastern Cape.
The school, built in partnership with LEAP Science and Mathematics Schools, is the first of its kind in the province.

Oceana Partnerships Provide 4.4 Million Meals

Fishing company Oceana says partnerships with Rise Against Hunger Africa and the Peninsula School Feeding Association have provided about 4.4 million meals to children.
The 14-year partnership with Rise Against Hunger Africa has seen Oceana employees pack more than one million meals for early childhood development centres in South Africa, Namibia and the United States.
Oceana’s 27-year partnership with the Peninsula School Feeding Association provides meals each year to 750 children at four West Coast primary schools, with about 3.5 million meals served since the programme began.
The company has also installed kitchens, supplied equipment and trained community volunteers to support the feeding programmes.
