Young Artists Invited to Peace Competition

Young South Africans aged 10 to 18 have until 11 September to enter the Pieces for Peace Art Competition, run by environmental non-profit Save a Fishie and the International Peace Youth Group.
Entrants must create a poster or sculpture about peace using only recycled materials, either individually or in teams of up to five.
The top three entries in each age group will be put to a public vote, with winners announced on 2 October.

Applications for the 2026 Shell LiveWire Enterprise Development Programme are now open to South African entrepreneurs, with support aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses grow and create jobs.
The programme offers coaching, business planning, market access and funding-readiness support, depending on the stage of the business.
Businesses with annual revenue of up to 50-million rand can apply.

Cape Town architecture practice SAOTA has become the first practice to receive the South African Institute of Architects’ Gold Medal for Architecture.
The Institute is a professional membership organisation that represents and supports architects in South Africa.
The award comes as SAOTA marks its 40th anniversary, after growing from a Cape Town studio into an international practice working across 86 countries.
SAOTA has also supported the next generation of architects through internships, graduate opportunities and bursaries.
