Lilian Ngoyi Street set to open on 12 September

City of Johannesburg officials have announced that Lilian Ngoyi Street in the Johannesburg CBD will reopen on the 12th of September.
The street has been closed since July 2023 after a gas explosion that tore through several blocks, severely damaging infrastructure and disrupting businesses, transport routes, and daily life in the city centre.
Joburg mayor Dada Morero has handed over the first phase of the street rebuilding project yesterday.

The City of Tshwane yesterday launched Arbor month with 250-thousand-rand worth of trees to support the city’s urban greening programme.
Arbor Month is an annual national campaign held in September to raise awareness about the crucial role of trees in sustainable development and the environment.
The initiative made possible through the generous donation from Santam aims to plant 300-thousand trees over 3 years in townships and informal settlements.
The city’s Zintle Mahlati called on residents and organisations to join efforts in planting trees and creating food gardens to build a climate-resilient city:

R18 million allocated to Macufe

R18 million has been allocated for the week-long Mangaung African Cultural Festival, known as Macufe.
The Free State Department of sports, arts, culture and recreation will manage the event.
Following a 2 year hiatus the event will focus on developing and creating a platform for local artists, as well as position the Free State as a destination of choice.

Isuzu Motors South Africa has donated 820-pairs of school shoes and socks to two primary schools in Gauteng and the Eastern Cape.
A school in Ivory Park received 500 pairs, while another in Gqeberha received 320 pairs.
The donation aims to support learners from disadvantaged communities by boosting their confidence and dignity.
The initiative is part of Isuzu's broader efforts to invest in education and support the holistic development of young people in underserved communities.
